Salvinorin A is a psychotropic diterpene isolated from Salvia divinorum.
no other natural source for this compound has been identified nor has it been synthetically produced. it is a potent nonnitrogenous kappa opioid selective agonist (Roth BL. et al.: PNAS 99, 2002: 11934-11939). hallucinogenic effect is observed at single doses of 200–500 µg. No activity is observed with Salvinorin B and Salvinorin C. |
